Note: The National High Point Program is a brand new program implemented by the WPCSC and will begin in 2008. Please bear with us as we work out all of the logistics and get the program underway.
b. In order for Breeding (Halter) points to count, points must be earned at a show offering a minimum of
four halter classes specific to Welsh Ponies and/or Cobs. Equine Canada Sanctioned and Provincially
Sanctioned shows offering a minimum of four Welsh Pony and/or Cob halter classes will automatically
be eligible to count for Breeding points (eg. Royal Winter Fair, Interior Provincial Exhibition). All other
shows must be approved by the Show Sanctioning Committee by February 1st of the current show year
and will be listed in the Calendar on the WPCSC website.
Non-sanctioned shows offering a minimum of
four Welsh Pony and/or Cob halter classes that are submitted for approval after February 1st of the
current calendar year will not count for points for that calendar year but will be added to the list of
eligible shows for the next calendar year.
c. Performance points can be earned at any Canadian show but must conform to the Rules listed in (a)
above.
Half-Welsh Breeding (Halter) points can be earned in either a Half-Welsh class or class for Registered Breeds or gender specific classes, but cannot earn points from both classes at the same show.
d. Animal must be registered with the WPCSC, or if under one year, be eligible for registration and properly entered in point classes. Points submitted for Welsh Ponies and/or Cobs under the age of one year will only be accepted if the animal is registered with the WPCSC by December 31st of the current show year.
e. Owner/lessee of record must be a current member of the WPCSC prior to points being accrued. Equitation riders must also be WPCSC members prior to points being accrued.
f. First six (6) placings in each class will count for points.
g. In classes where multiple animals count as one entry (Pairs, Tandems, Unicorns, four-in-hand, six-in-hand), the animals making up the entry must remain the same throughout the point year. Each animal will receive full points.
h. If Performance or Halter Classes have been combined, each horse and/or rider will gain points towards their respective divisions. Example: A combined 3 & Over Stallions/Geldings class; points earned by a Stallion will go towards their 3 & Over Stallion Year-End Award and points earned by a Gelding will go towards their Gelding Year-End Award.
i. All National Breeding (Halter) points earned by Ponies or Cobs who reside in the following Provinces and Territories will be automatically doubled due to the smaller number of members and shows available in their area: Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, North West Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.
j. For Regional Awards, points can only be earned at shows held within the specific Region and owners/lessees/riders must be residents of that Region. Owners/lessees/riders showing outside of their Region will not be able to transfer any points earned in other Regions to their own Region but those points will count towards National Year-End Awards.
k. One overall National and one overall Reserve National Champion will be recognized in each Breeding, Performance and Equitation division. As well, one overall Champion and one overall Reserve Champion will be recognized in each of the four Regions (Western, Central, Eastern, Atlantic) in each Breeding, Performance and Equitation division.
l. National and Regional award winners will be published in the WPCSC Welsh In Canada Newsletter Spring Issue each year. Entrants must have a minimum of (20) points throughout the show year to be eligible for National or ten (10) points for Regional awards.
m. Points are tabulated from January 1st to December 31st of the current show year. All points must be in the hands of the WPCSC National High Point Committee by December 31st of the current show year in order for points to count.
