WHAT IS A COPY READY AD?
Copy ready ads are ads that can be placed directly into the newsletter publication for printing without modification - the same as if you were submitting an ad to a National magazine like Practical Horseman or Equus. Our preferred file format for receiving copy ready ads is Adobe PDF. Using this file format avoids common font and lay-out problems that can occur with other file formats. Microsoft Word or WindWord are other acceptable formats. All ads must be submitted electronically, via email. Unfortunately, we cannot use hard copy or faxed in ads.

We do not accept ads from raster-based, "paint" or "wordpad" programs, even if provided in PDF or EPS formats. Raster-based design programs create ads that reproduce poorly in print. The following lists several raster-based and other programs that should not be used:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Macromedia Fireworks
  • Microsoft Paint
  • WordPad
  • Notepad

    If you have no idea on how to design an ad on your computer, most local Printing Stores are capable of designing and printing up an ad for you. The Welsh In Canada is also available to design a copy ready ad for you, at the rate of $50 CDN + GST per ad. Email Us directly regarding having your ad made up for you.


    DOES IT COST EXTRA TO INCLUDE PHOTOGRAPHS WITH MY AD?
    No. If you have paid for a copy-ready ad to be included in the Welsh In Canada, all photographs are included with the advertising rate.


    IS THERE A CHARGE FOR SENDING IN STORIES, NEWS OR EVENTS TO BE ADDED IN THE MAGAZINE?
    No, as long as no advertising for profit is being done and all material is directly related to Welsh Ponies and Cobs. The Welsh In Canada encourages individuals and groups to send in their Welsh Pony stories, news or upcoming events. Due to the high volume content of the Welsh In Canada, stories may be pushed back to a future issue. The sooner you get your information send in, the more likely it can be included in the next upcoming issue. Photos are always welcome with stories!


    I KNOW THE ADVERTISING DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1ST BUT, WHAT IF MY AD WON'T BE READY UNTIL THE 5TH OF FEBRUARY?
    Then unfortunately, your ad will no be included in that particular issue. Advertising deadlines are strictly adhered to as, once the deadline has passed, the Welsh In Canada begins production and is sent off to the printers. Late ads will be held back and included in the next issue. We strongly encourage all advertisers to contact us ahead of time to reserve advertising space and ensure there is room available in the Issue you are interested in advertising in.


    I WANT TO USE UP MY FREE TEXT CLASSIFIED AD FOR MEMBERS BUT, I AM NOT SURE HOW THE 35 WORDS WORK? DO THE OTHER CLASSIFIED ADS HAVE TO BE LESS THAN 35 WORDS?
    Each WPCSC Member is allowed one free text classified ad in each issue. Ads are limited to registered Welsh Ponies & Cobs and related items. Your contact information is included in the maximum 35 words. Additional text ads are $5.00 CDN + GST each and you can have up to 100 words. Photo ads are $10.00 CDN + GST each and can also have up to 100 words.


    CAN I ADVERTISE MY SPORT PONY OR OTHER PONY BREED IN THE WELSH IN CANADA?
    Unfortunately, the Welsh In Canada does not allow advertising other than related directly to registered Welsh Ponies and Cobs. As the Welsh In Canada is the Quarterly Newsletter for all Welsh Pony and Cob Society of Canada Members, advertising is only offered for registered Welsh Ponies & Cobs and no other breed, or type of pony.
